Content Editor opening located in Buffalo, NY
The Content Editor is responsible for managing elements of day-to-day
content publishing under supervision of the Managing Editor. The CE will
work with Content Publishers to determine best use of available content
for Synacor's portal products; Provide back-up publishing support as needed;
Assist Managing Editor in identifying trends in Web content and translate
into increased portal usage with strong focus on metrics, including monthly
page views and premium usage.
Duties and Responsibilities:
o Assist in development and execution of a PC portal, toolbar and mobile
publishing strategy that will strike the right balance between editorial/services,
promotion and transactions.
o Contribute to key portions of the regular publishing calendar, focusing
on key categories of portal content and channel usage.
o Work with Content Publishers and other internal teams to develop strategy
for new and existing content and follow projects through to completion.
o Work with Managing Editor and Content Publishers to identify and complete
team goals.
o Responsible for regular review and analysis of content usage metrics.
o Monitor competitor sites and help translate new technologies and content
trends into viable strategies for Synacor clients.
o Must be self-motivated and able to work a few hours per week remotely
in evening and weekends to ensure all daily/weekly publishing commitments
are met.
o Able to work occasional overnight shift to support release of code to
portals.
Education, Experience and Skills:
o Exhibit strong content and editing skills
o Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
o Bachelor's degree and experience in journalism, public relations, communications
or related field required
o Experience as editor (print, online or TV) required
o Web experience preferred
o Must be well-organized and able to manage multiple (potentially complicated)
projects at once
o Strong team player
o Basic HTML knowledge preferred, but not required
o Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, non-traditional work environment
o Ability to think creatively and troubleshoot issues
